This is especially true if you have little ones running around causing carnage as they go.

If you’re a working mother juggling a busy household, it can often feel near impossible to have a fresh smelling home.

Here at Mamo & Mono, we want to provide you with some simple tips on keeping on top of the lingering smells which may arise in your home.

Remember, nobody expects you to have a picture-perfect home, however, with just a few of our tips, you will have your future guests singing your praises about your beautifully fragrant home.

Below is the article ’11 Simple Ways to Keep Your Home Smelling Fresh’.

1. Open Windows.

Opening your windows is a simple and an effective way to keep your home smelling fresh. Good ventilation can help to keep stale smells at bay and help to combat any festering odours in your home. Even opening your windows in the winter months can be beneficial to your home.

2. Empty the Bins.

Smelly overflowing bins are huge culprits when it comes to odours in the home.

Any unpleasant smells can be quickly removed from the home by simply taking out the rubbish. If you are a household that accumulates lots of waste, then you could benefit from multiple trips to your local household water collection centre or hire a company who could collect your surplus household waste.

3. Clean the Kitchen Sink.

Often food can settle in the kitchen sink leaving bad smells to spread throughout the home.

Cleaning out any lingering food can have a positive impact on the freshness of your home. This is an easy and practical way to keep your home smelling clean.

4. Vacuum.

Children can leave a trail of destruction wherever they go.

And, if you have a carpet in your home, you already know that there will surprises left embedded into the carpet (or on the floor), such as crumbs, paper wrappings or unidentified stains. Vacuuming regularly will help you to keep on top of the chaos and keep the air in your home crisp.

Also, bonus points if your able to get your carpet steam cleaned.

5. Keep Toilets Clean.

We don’t need to tell you that toilets are the biggest offenders when it comes to offensive smells in the home.

And to be honest, you will probably be judged the most by the condition of your toilet. Of course, with children, it is impossible to monitor the situation 100%, but if you have guests dropping by last minute, a quick clean/wipe down of your toilet will make the world of difference.

Furthermore, a clean toilet will help to tackle any nasty odours.

6. Use Diffusers or Plugins

A beautiful smelling diffuser or plugin can be a quick, easy and simple way to create a lovely fragrance in your home.

All this can be done with very little effort. A beautiful aroma creates a welcoming environment to any future guests.

7. Manage Laundry.

Where do we even begin when it comes to managing the laundry?

This is the never-ending household chore which never seems to be complete. You have the piles of washed clothes waiting to be folded, wet laundry left in the washing machine too long and let us not forget the dirty clothes in the already full laundry baskets.

It can all feel very overwhelming.

To help with the odours in your home, focus on washing your dirty clothes and dry any wet clothes in a timely manner so that they do not leave any stale smells behind. The rest of the laundry that is clean and dry will unfortunately have to wait until you have time to fold this away.

8. Clear Dishes from the Sink.

Plates, bowls, cups, knives and forks, make up the constant pile that ends up in the sink.

Even if you own a dishwasher, the dishes seem to always have a home in the sink. If you have any energy at the end of your busy day, try to wash these or put them away in the dishwasher, as this can make a huge difference to the freshness of your home.

Food which festers on dishes can lead to bad smells accumulating in the kitchen.

9. Clear the Fridge.

Try your best to throw away expired food from your fridge regularly.

We know that it is a scary experience having to open that pot that has been in your fridge for a week, but if you leave it any longer, you don’t know what or who might emerge from there! Unloading the weekly shop is the perfect time to clear out the old food to make space for fresh produce.

10. Clean the Floor.

Similarly to cleaning your carpets, try your best to clean your floors too.

Babies, toddlers and children will drop weird and wonderful things onto the floor. Before you even realise, you will be experiencing horrid aromas that you have never come across before in your home.

You don’t want to be caught off guard especially with last minute guests coming over, therefore, have a good clean and mop of the floor and reap the rewards of freshness.

11. Wipe Down Surfaces.

Wiping down surfaces is a fast and easy way to bring your kitchen back to life.

Wiping down and clearing up any spillages will instantly improve the air quality in your home.
