1. Give Yourself Plenty of Time
To fully enjoy the festive period, give yourself lots of time to allow for a smoother process. Get things out of storage, have a look at what you have, and if anything needs to be replaced, then you have lots of time to get this sorted. Decorating your Christmas Tree is always more enjoyable when you don’t need to rush this process.
2. Make it a Family Affair
One of the best parts of Christmas is spending time with family. It is also an opportunity to make lifelong memories together. Your children will love untangling tinsel, hanging baubles and placing ornaments on the Christmas Tree. Why not play Christmas songs in the background to make it even more festive.
3. Prepare the Space
Having a freshly clean environment before putting up the Christmas Tree will make the experience more pleasurable. A quick vacuum and dustt will allow your tree sit pride of place in your preferred spot. And, when you’re all finished with the setup, another quick clean to collect any small pieces of decoration like tinsel or glitter.

4. Start with the Lights
A simple way to start decorating the tree is to start with fairy lights. Wrap the lights around the Christmas Tree, so that they are distributed evenly from the top to the bottom. It is a lot easier to do this before other decorations are added to the tree!
5. Add Tinsel, Baubles and Ornaments
Once the lights are up, layer on the tinsel, followed by baubles and other décor. and don’t’ forget the Christmas Tree topper! Spread them around the Christmas Tree evenly to avoid any heavy or light spots.
Also, don’t forget the Christmas Tree topper! It could be a star, angel or anything your family wish to be the main attraction of the Tree!
6. Include Sentimental Decorations
Sentimental items are arguably what make the Christmas Tree special. Adding personal touches to the tree will bring a level of warmth to your decorations. Why not hang up your children’s homemade decorations, photo baubles from past visits to see Santa or ornaments from your Child’s first Christmas.
7. Don’t Forget Outdoor Lights
The Christmas magic doesn’t need to just stay in the home, why not take it outside?
In addition to your Christmas Tree lights, why not hang some all over your home (outdoor and indoor)? Around windows, doors or even your garden. Coming home to a beautifully lit home will feel magical, furthermore you will be spreading festive cheer to your local neighbourhood.
8. Add Festive Touches Around Your Home
The Christmas Tree may be the star, however, why not elevate your Christmas décor by adding extra touches throughout the home. Some of them could include:
- Christmas stockings
- Christmas cushions
- Christmas bedsheets
- Holiday-scented diffusers or plug ins
- A nativity setup
9. Capture the Moment
Don’t forget to take pictures and videos while decorating! These become wonderful memories to look back on and share with family as the years pass.

Decorating your Christmas Tree and home should be an enjoyable stress-free event. We hope that we have simplified the process for you, and that it allows your Christmas to be full of joy and happiness.
