Planning birthdays for your child can sometimes feel overwhelming. And, often as they grow it can feel like there is more pressure on you to make their birthdays magical.

When your child is small, they are not fully aware of what is happening, however, as your child grows, so does their understanding of birthdays and sometimes their expectations too. As working mothers, we are already under so much pressure, therefore, here at Mamo & Mono, we want to make the birthday planning as simple and stress free for you as possible.

As a parent, you want to create magical moments that they will cherish forever, so I hope that this article helps to do just that. We hope that these simple birthday traditions have your child feeling celebrated, loved and special on their big day.

Below is the article ‘Simple Birthday Traditions to Make Your Child’s Birthday Magical and Memorable’.

BALLOONS

Balloons are a must for birthdays!

Whether you have some displayed in a fun balloon arch, scattered on the floor or even a large number balloon, your child’s face will light up seeing all the wonderful décor.

You could even set them up the night before (so that it is a surprise for your child). What a privilege to see your child’s face light up with joy in in the morning!

BIRTHDAY BANNER

A simple way to make your child feel extra important on their big day!

Banners could be displayed in the home or on the front the door. Displaying them on the front door allows your neighbours to know about your child’s special day too!

And how sweet for your child to see their birthday banner on the front door on the way home from school!

BIRTHDAY MEALS

On their birthday, it is a must that they decide on the meals of the day!

Children don’t often get to make big decisions, therefore, letting them decide what to eat for the day gives them a sense of excitement and freedom. Be aware though, you might have a request of pizza for breakfast!

BIRTHDAY BADGE

Your child will be so proud to wear their birthday badge.

What a lovely way to make them feel loved and special on their big day. If they are at school for their big, they will love all the extra attention and birthday wishes from their friends and teachers. (Make sure the badge is safe and age appropriate! Badges which are plastic and not sharp are perfect for school!)

BIRTHDAY THEME

A themed birthday could really elevate the day for your child.

Themes can be anything from their favourite football team, a favourite movie or associated with their favourite toy. The theme could even be carried through with the banners, balloons, table covers, wrapping paper and even a birthday outfit!

These small touches will make their day even more magical!

BIRTHDAY PRESENTS

Why not let your child open their presents first thing in the morning, or whilst they are still in their pyjamas?

What a lovely tradition this could be, and it will feel Christmas morning all over again! Don’t forget to take lots of pictures and videos to capture all birthday joy!

BIRTHDAY ACTIVITIES

Let them choose their preferred birthday activity.

This could be bowling, watching their favourite movie or simply playing with their presents. Again, this allows them to fully take ownership of their special day, and for one day they will feel like they are in charge, and they will love it!

BIRTHDAY CAKE

You can’t have a birthday without a cake!

Whether it is simple or extravagant, they will be ecstatic when they see their cake with all the candles! This could also be tied into the theme of the birthday. Just make sure they don’t forget to make a wish when they blow out their candles.

SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Singing is a must for your child on their big day.

This could be in the morning when they wake up or when the birthday cake makes an appearance! You could even sing different renditions of ‘Happy Birthday’ to shake things up a bit!

SWEETS OR GIFTS FOR CLASSMATES

Why not spread the birthday joy with sweets or small gift bags to share with your child’s classmates! It will make their birthday feel even more fun and exciting.

COMPLIMENTS TO THE BIRTHDAY BOY OR GIRL

A beautiful tradition would be to either leave notes for the birthday boy/girl around the home with lovely messages for their big day or everyone could say something that they love about them or a beautiful memory they have had with them. This could whilst gathered around a dinner table or throughout the day. Don’t forget to write lovely messages in their birthday cards

Thank you for reading the article ‘Simple Birthday Traditions to Make Your Child’s Birthday Magical and Memorable’. We hope these simple, heartfelt ideas help you to create birthday memories that will last a lifetime.

Wishing your little one a very wonderful birthday!
