This is your life.
This is your motherhood.
This is your career.
This is your era.
You make the rules.
This is the era where you will be stretched further than you have ever in your life.
You will also grow faster than you have ever grown. You will experience extreme highs and extreme lows. During this journey boundaries will not be optional, they will be mandatory.
You will have to fight to protect your peace.
You will have to constantly remind yourself that on this journey it is you vs you and will have to block any comparisons.
Others will portray the perfect home, the best-behaved children, the perfect career and you will feel inadequate. You will have to keep reminding yourself of your own worth and that you are doing an amazing job (even if it doesn’t always feel that way).
Remember, not every day will be productive, and there will be times where you will not be able to work the same as those without caring responsibilities.
At times you will have to take breaks and rest to avoid burnout. Motherhood and careers do not always fit together nicely, and you will have to be extremely patient with yourself. Speak positive words to yourself, treat yourself with love and kindness.
It’s ok to make mistakes, it is ok to pivot and it is ok if your working life looks different to what you initially imagined. That’s part of the process of being a working mother.
There will be a lot of judgements on the way, but keep going, keep persisting and don’t worry about the naysayers. The ones who truly support you will only speak positive words to you. You make the decisions in your life, you create the narrative, don’t let anyone take this position on your behalf.
Remember, your journey will not always be smooth, there will be many ups and downs, this is normal. Keep going.
Don’t be so hard on yourself if you’re not able to achieve every checklist or make every school event, you’re doing your best, and your children know that they are deeply loved. Many days it will feel like you aren’t making progress, you are, that feeling is normal.
Remember, setbacks mean future comebacks, yes, allow yourself to feel the emotions, but then wipe those tears and keep going.
If you keep going, keep working, keep moving forwards you cannot fail.
Trust your gut, you already know the next steps, you already know what tasks will progress you to the next stages in life. If you are feeling stuck in your career or entrepreneurship journey, if you look deep inside, you already know your bottle necks. And you have the skills within you to overcome these.
Procrastination will come, and that’s normal. Keep persisting.
At times you will have seasons of struggle, but you will also have seasons of success. You’re moving and learning during both seasons.
The challenges you are facing are transforming you into the most powerful version on you.
Everything happening to you will be the making of you.
Remember, you are iconic. This is your era. You make the rules.
