To my precious child,

Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine a child as wonderful, special or perfect as you are.

You jump out of bed as if every day ‘Is the best day ever’, with wide eyes waiting in anticipation to discover something new. You scream ‘Mummy’ from your bedroom, and then come running into the room. You want cuddles, hugs and seek out my closeness.

As a mother, I am beyond exhausted, and yet, when I see you running towards me, I feel like I have hit the jackpot.

All you want to do is start the day and spend time together.

You have no idea what the day will bring, and yet you are happy regardless. We walk hand in hand as you start telling me 1,001 things that you held onto since waking up. For that moment, it feels like a slice of heaven.

There are times when I am at work, and I remember these breath-taking moments, and then I remember why I am doing this. I realise why I work as hard as I do.

I work this hard because you bring magic into this world, you sparkle on the dullest days, and even on my worst day, you continue to bring a smile to my face.

You are a miracle and a perfectly sculpted masterpiece. Thank you for allowing me to be in your beautiful presence. You are my reason for waking up in the morning. I will keep working just for you.

You are my whole life packaged into a small human being.
